Home sales in November 2006 were up 1% from November 2005. The increase was 1% which is pretty great considering all the bad press we've had all year and considering 2005 was like a gold rush in this part of Florida. Perhaps more importantly, prices were up 6% over the same period. All this was in sharp contrast with the rest of the state of Florida where both prices and volume were down over the same period. The median price for an existing home rose from $163,000.00 to $172,900.00 here in Ocala. The median price for all existing homes here in Florida is $242,500.00. The only city in the state of Florida with a lower median home price than Ocala is Pensacola.
