One of the favorite local foods of South Louisiana and New Orleans is the shrimp. Just started thinking about it as I am going to buy me 4-5 pounds tommorow. The are great just sauted with butter and spices for about 10 minutes in an iron skillet. They are sold locally in pick up trucks in ice chest fresh off the shrimp boats on the west bank. What is left over I can make seafood gumbo. One of the unique features of our area is that we like to eat great food. I perfer shrimp over steaks.

We have shrimp farms here in Hawaii. Our love for seafood is probably as strong as you folks in Louisiana. I am sure our football team is eating a lot of your local seafood while getting ready for the Sugar Bowl. Go Warriors!

Randy, Louisiana and Hawaii have a lot in common. The cultures are different from the rest of the country. I had two great Hawaiian guys that worked for me. They were always positive and went to work with a smile. They got along with the Cajuns really well. I am going to plant some sugar cane in my yard this week by my gold fish pond.Has a completely different look when not in a field.

Eric, some good Louisiana shrimp sure sounds good. I like my boil shrimp right out the pot.
