The statistics below really astonish me. Once again, I appear to be out of step with a large majority of other individuals. Every time I think I’m definitely in step and in touch with “what’s happening” I find something that tells me I’m not.
I have a smartphone which I use all the time to check email and – are you ready – make and receive phone calls. Sometimes I even use the camera, GPS and other apps.
So far I’ve managed with the technical devices already in my possession and was feeling pretty “mobile ready” until I read the data below.
I don’t have a portable notebook, pad or tablet and my Internet searches for products, services, businesses, etc. are largely confined to my desktop and laptop computers at my office and home.
Sure, I’ve done spur of the moment searches on my smartphone, but reading anything other short details on a small screen isn’t particularly pleasant or easy.
Checking YouTube videos and searching for more than directions or weather updates . . . afraid that’s not how I spend the time with my phone.
I’m one of those people who do my best to plan ahead. I try to know where I’m going and what I need to accomplish in advance. Maybe that approach becomes more pronounced with age.
But I suspect most of us wouldn’t need to use our mobile devices nearly as much if we spent a little more time on scheduling our daily activities. Even entering information into the calendar features on our phones and computers requires some prior planning.
Guess I’ll continue to be one of those holdouts who resist buying an additional mobile device or increasing the usage of my current one until I’ve proven to myself without a doubt that I just can’t manage any other way.
See what you think . . . .
