The "Loan Originating Realtor" Pt.1

By
Mortgage and Lending with Express Capital Mortgage Inc.

Everyone is mixed on the idea about real estate professionals taking on the additional job title of a loan officer or originator.  Most commonly the idea involving the rejection of it is the idea that clients will suspect that you don't focus your time and energy in being the best realtor you can be?  Is this for objection for real or just a cop out?  Why wouldn't you consider it a bonus to have knowledge in origination if not an additional income stream?

As I leave those questions ponder in depth later lets consider this.  As the market has slowed for most many are turning to other odd jobs to keep a steady income.  Lets face reality cause this is happening.  I have followed up on some outstanding resumes with experienced loan officers in Arizona who have unfortunatly had the misfortune of walking up to a locked door of an empty office and find themselves looking around for work.  I call them and find that they were just hired are selling cars or something similar.  Maybe it is easy for some to see reason in this, but I don't.  I know the automotive market is not easier.

If you ask us we are big on the idea of building your knowledge of real estate to be hand in hand with mortgages.  At Express Capital Mortgage we want to give you knowledge.  Work with us as a referral partner, for us as an originator, or just attend our marketing sessions for new ideas about what others are doing in the industry.  See what having that extra knowledge and the fact that you KNOW what is happening with the financing side of your transactions.

I think any good realtor needs to have a grasp on lending and title.  I wouldn't recommend being both because that just increases your liability.  But, in order to fully represent your clients, you need to be able to talk to them about those issues and help them find someone who is knowledgable.
