ActiveRain 2007 Year in Review - Home Staging Edition

By
Home Stager

I was invited to write a Home Staging Year in Review by Jennifer Fivelsdal.  It was an honor to be included in this project. To will find all of the posts at the ActiveRain 2007 Year In Reviewgroup home - have fun reading this ambitious AR summary.

A year ago there were only about 100 home stagers on Active Rain, today we are over 1600 strong. Active Rain has given us a voice in the real estate community and for this we are grateful.

The home staging industry is in its infancy and we are dedicated to changing the way homes are marketed and prepared for sale.  I think most home stagers would agree that partnering with real estate agents is an integral part of our industry and Active Rain has made those partnerships more accessible.  We are able to discuss staging and real estate with agents from all over the country.  We can take what we learn and apply it to our local markets.

I think the single most important factor in the success of Stagers in the Rain was the advent of groups. Craig Schiller created the group Stage it Forward and the staging movement had found a home.  If you are not a member of SIF you should join today.

Here is a rundown of some of the most memorable posts of the year:

I think once you read or reread these posts you will see that we have come full circle. We are a close knit group with a passion for the real estate industry.  I am grateful for Active Rain and Stage it Forward in particular,  you have given me a place to share, learn, grow and vent.  I am honored to be counted as one of your members.

I have made so many good friends from all around the country I cannot imagine running my business without your encouragement and wisdom.  I'd like to wish each and every one of you a joyous and prosperous new year.

~Maureen

PS I was asked to come up with 12 memorable posts that exemplified Home Staging in the Rain, it was an almost impossible task.  If you have a favorite post that you'd like to share please feel free to link it in the comments.  :)

Maureen, you left out your posts. You are a very intelligent giving person that has added so much knowledge, encouragement and sincerity to this community. You might not be using your professional teaching degree  9 to 5 but you give your all to AR.

Respectfully,

Sue Argue

My favorite all time post is yours Maureen because color is so scary and this one thread brings to light all the best paint colors for newbies as well as old timers (me). I even quote some of the paint suggestions in my home staging instructions...here it is:

Roy G BIV - Is he a friend of yours???

There are soooooo many I have bookmarked but since you wrote this post...well, I am a huge fan.

oh, oh , oh . .  . I'm a definite Maureen fan . . . keep 'em coming girl

Now, Sherin, here's a challenge -- you, Maureen, and I having lunch!  you're in charge of the logistics!  Can't wait!

We're here at the round table 1/17 -  we will house you!

Sheron - I'm blushing.  That was probably my favorite post.  I am one of those people that collect paint colors - whenever I go into people's homes and I love the color I ask them what it is then make a note of it in my Fandex (that thing is covered in post it notes).

Karen - Send airfare and pocket money and I'll see you in a few weeks.

Maureen,  excellent post.  I have booked marked it so I may catch up on it over my vacation.  You were very kind to add my post.  However, I am with the many others, when I say that many of yours should have made the list.   You are a huge asset to SIF and I have learned so much from you my friend.

Hey Maureen, thanks so much for mentioning one of my posts, that really touched my heart. You have been a true inspiration and I am so glad that we got to personally meet at the Round Table Discussion. I am also glad to have tasted your cookies.

Your post about color has helped me time and time again, why just today I recommended that wonderful Chestertown Buff to a client and she LOVED IT..I think Benjamin Moore needs to rename that to give you honorable mention, now that should be our next contest.

Rename Chestertown Buff to honor MAUREEN! Thanks for all your time and hard work in helping the staging industry move forward. Thanks for helping me with my lacking technological gene and thanks for assisting us in RES's. You're the best!

Phyllis I'm blushing.  I have a new favorite color but don't tell anyone I'm keeping it all to myself.  It is Benjamin Moore Powell Buff HC-35.  I can't even tell you how many times I've used it - it looks perfect in ever home.  My painter jokes around that I'm trying to paint the world Powell Buff.
