Don't Pick On People With Bad Hair Days

Bad Hair Day BirdOne of the tenets of understanding kindness towards others in our relationships both personal and with co-workers and even strangers is

Don't Pick On People With Bad Hair Days.

It is when others make little mistakes, misplacing their keys, leaving the dome light on in the car and the battery drains, forgetting the jug of milk at the store, not being the PERFECT person the other expects ~ and any of us failing for that moment in time, WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM?

We pile on the criticism, the harshness, the anger, the infuriation if you will. This is so NOT GOOD. Relationships break up NOT over the big ELEPHANT differences so often but the cumulative little ants biting at your feet. The gnawing away at the MINOR things. If you truly care about someone, the relationship is MORE important than the annoyances, laugh them off, let them slide, keep your mouth shut. Rather be ok with the relationship than be right. Don't sweat the small stuff. Why? Cause if you look in the mirror on YOUR bad hair days you annoy them equally given a certain day or circumstances.

Don't be hurtful from frustration and verbally punishing.

Practice being KIND to people you truly care about.

Great inspirational and true words. People may forget what you say but they will never forget the way you make them feel so always practice patience, kindness and forgiveness. Have a great Saturday evening and a super fun Sunday.

Great words to live by Gary.  There are days when it seems hard to keep emotions in check but shoot if I could sport a do like the chicken in the picture I'd be smiling all the time.

Gary,

You leave few options! If we criticize we obviously missed your point.

I was going to comment that I've always enjoyed Phyllis Diller, but Wanda beat me to it.

I understand Don King is a fellow right wing conservative despite being hirsutely impaired.

Gary,

I love the chick...thinking about trying to match those colors on my own hair.  Who could possibly be mean to me then?

A good reminder Gary.  I try to do that every day.  I used to be wound "way to tight" (my husband's words) and he was right.  I had unrealistic expectations for the people in my life and it made them nuts.  Happily we survived my "nutty days" and laugh about it now.

Such an important lesson. If only the people in our lives would take these words to heart, there would be fewer moments that "sting" years after they actually happened.

Gary, it is so hard to not sweat the little things and yet your words ring so true. Offering grace and simply allowing a person to be who he or she is are two of the greatest gifts in the world.

Excellent reminder. And I would add that you should be kind to people you don't even know. I am appalled by the trend of people taking out their venom on people who deal with the public.  The slightest mistake and the pig-pile begins.
