Are Canon 5D Mark II Users Switching to the 5D Mark III?

Reviews of the new Canon 5D Mark III are pouring in, mostly from sources like camera magazines and tech sites like CNET.  I wanted to read what Ken Rockwell would have to say and I wasn't surprised to read his own review of the latest Canon 5 series release.

As in most of the recent reviews of Canon's new DSLR, Rockwell praises features like color fringe correction and dual memory card slots. And Canon has relocated the "Power On" switch to the top of the camera.

Still, I don't see the need to run out and buy the Mark III.  I just don't see enough difference between the newest model and my old Mark II (which is only two years old, to be exact) to warrant rushing out to purchase one.

The changes in the new model appear incremental and relatively minor.

I'm still loving my Mark II.  Is anyone out there rushing out to purchase the Mark III?

thank you very much for the informative and interesting post. I get so much out of the active rain network. I think cannons are the best.

I wouldn't rush out and spend tons of money on the Mark III. It's very similar to their EOS Rebel lines, but clearly on a much more expensive and higher scale. Why go out and buy the T3i when the T2i is just as good still? In my humble opinion, if you know how to properly work a camera, it shouldn't be much of a consideration.

I'm with you Eric.  I love my Mark II, which is about the same age as yours.  It is going to have to be a lot longer in the tooth before I think about replacing it.
