The work of a real estate professional is amazing on many levels, and yet it can be overwhelming with all the varied tasks that we have to be good with to compete for our clients. Firstly real estate is a financial transaction and your real estate professional needs to know, understand and be able to communicate complex transactional and legal matters with you. Although they always say they are not lawyers or accountants and your should hire ones to professional opinions, the more your Realtor® knows about the process through trainging and experience the better for the client. Transactional details are critical to the success of a deal and demand attention and quick effective response to arising issues.
Real estate is also emotional. It is one of the three basic needs of the human. Food, Shelter and Clothing are the big three, right? Shelter, or your home sits nestled in the middle there--this is important and so it can be emotional and usually is. I have never heard anyone describe their favorite home as that "3 bed, 2 bath, 1800 square foot center entranced colonial." NO! That is not the story. The story is that you loved your bedroom with it's east facing windows for morning light, you cherished the dinners you used to have around the big table in the dining room. You played countless hours in your rec room with your friends, that is what you remember. This is the home side of a house. A house is statistics, a home is story. I share story when I market homes. I think there is no better person to explain why a house can be a great home than the person who made it their home. Paul Restuccia of The Boston Herald wrote about this today.
