Up until about a few years ago - my cell phone was the cheap $1 flip top that used to come when you agreed to a one year contract with your cellphone company. Whatever was cheap - that's what I bought, and I kept it until it broke, and replaced it with whatever else was cheap at the time. And I was happy that way!
Then I started hearing how smart phones could help with my real estate business. And - I took the plunge. Maybe there are plans out there now that offer the IPhone for free with the 2 year plan - but mine still cost a bundle when I bought it. Well - it was worth every penny.
I have access to my emails immediately. I get text alerts from assorted real estate web sites. I can quietly text my sellers during open houses when a prospective buyer has a question, and get it answered while buyers are still walking through the house. I can go to google maps and show prospective buyers the aerial view of the lot we're walking through, or use the GPS to get there. I can go to CSS (Centralized Showing) and make or cancel appointments. I can go on the MLS and check for other listings while out with buyers who are still hungry to see more houses that day - find a house, make the appointment, get the combo code or other showing directions - and if it's vacant - get in immediately.
I can use my apps for mortgages and tell my clients what their PITI might be for a particular house. I have an app that lets me take pictures of a particular item and then color matches it to a paint name so I know what paint to have my seller's purchase.
Carting around that electronic lockbox swiper is no more - I have the EKey app and the little "reader" that stays on my keyring, until I plug it into my IPhone when opening a lockbox.
I can access land and tax information on any property, immediately.
I've had days when I was talking on the speaker phone, checking the CSS app, and texting a client - all at the same time!
I can keep my mileage log on the notepad on my phone. (There's probably an app for that, too!)
I have an app called Tour Narrator that is wonderful! I have a file for each client. I can take pics at any properties that allow pictures and add notes on each one. Then I can email the entire thing to the client.
There's a Zillow app and a Trulia app. Oh - and did I mention - a Jean Singleton app! :)
