Things are returning to normal...

Hi all: I hope you're well! Things are returning to normal...

Why do I say that? This morning I was driving on Petrovitsky Road in our neck of the woods and saw that a long ago abandoned and foreclosed home (and a nice one at that) was being painted and worked on. Whether the bank was doing it or someone bought it I don't know. But it was a symbol of the real estate bust here as it probably was in many communities across our land.

I'm sure the home was initially built on-spec by a developer who ran out of money (or the bank failed) so the home was literally about 75% finished. Now the home is being finished. And it will be nice when it is done.

I don't know about you but it's nice to see things get finished off. It's been a rough ride for so many builders and, let's face it, they are often the lifeblood of the real estate market. At least they are up here where inventory is tight again.

What are you seeing in your market? Is it encouraging? I sure am thrilled about things returning to normal. It's been a long wait! I hope you're doing well. Have a great day!

Hi Paul,

I will say this spring has really brought out a lot of listings, and I am indeed busy.  I hope it remains this way, but there are still a ton of foreclosures out there.

Hi Paul....Hopefully that is a good sign for the near future and things will get back to normal soon for you and your market. Our market has been solid for about 6 months and it feels great to be having normal conversations about real estate, instead of the doom and gloom ones. Cheers. Ryan

We have started some of our construction again. For a while there, it seemed like we werent going to build any more new homes... but they are popping up again and a few new schools.

Paul we have been seeing a lot of activity here, so I would expect better days ahead.  It sure would be nice to put families in some of these vacant houses.

Hi Paul... I drove by and noticed that home on Petrovitsky Road also! It is great to see on my way down Benson Road in Renton and Easthill Kent, homes are moving. Love seeing those SOLD stickers over the listing sign. We're realizing a big pickup in transactions and the past 2 weeks has been like Grand Central Station with back to back signings all day long. Definitely the kind of busy I love to see!
