Tonight, I was looking at my I-Phone. I was in a really long line at Whole Foods but didn't mind because I could check my email. Then it rang, and I knew who it was. No, it wasn't the caller ID feature, but the the special ring for my special guy.
When the first car phones came out sometime in the 1980's, I was an early adapter, being one of the first agents in mhy office to get one. It worked only in the car, and only when the engine was running. Whenever it rang, I had no idea who might be calling, for there was no caller ID back then. And it just made calls. That was all. Oh, and this was way before we know how dangerous distracted driving was. I'm lucky I didn't die - or kill someone else.
Over the years, mobile phones changed. Soon they were no longer tethered to the car, and they were almost small enough to fit into a handbag - a big one. Then they got smaller and really small. But it took a while for mobile phones to get smart.
So my I-Phone 4S is Mensa smart. I can phone and text, check email, get onto MRIS to find the showing instructions when I'm standing in front of a house. While I'm at a listing waiting for a buyer broker to show up with a client, I can read an E-Book or play one of many highly addictive computer games.
Or, I can comment on Active Rain posts when Dick and I take road trips - or write one! Well, the keyboard is a litte small for my chubby fingers, but it is possible if you have a wee bit of tolerance for typos.
There are so many great gadgets out there, but of all of them, my I-Phone 4S has made the biggest difference for me.
Oh, and my I-Phone 4S is bluetooth available for when I absolutely have to take the call in the car but can't pull over.
I probably won't kill anyone while I'm driving.
This phone is freakin' smart!
And sure, I could live without it. I did a lot of business over three decades without it. But living with it is a lot better.
