Well the day of reckoning had arrived, that is Graduation Day at the Dog Training Club of St Petersburg, Fl, for those of you who read last weeks post I have been training with my dog Penny for the last 7 weeks, basic obedience may not seem like a big deal to some but to us it is a huge achievement!!
We took Mom along to watch her daughter perform and waited patiently for everyone to arrive. We got off to a good start with some great looking heel work, moved expertly into sit and even managed to hold our sit stay (that is on lead) all good so far.
About turn, circle left and right no problem, then came the down stay......we got the down but the down stay was a little confusing, not to worry no one’s perfect. As I must have said before the trainers at St Petersburg Dog Club have so much patience.
The fun started when they got the agility equipment out and we faced the big bad yellow tunnel but we made on second try and I didn’t have to go through first this time.
We finished with the grand finale, recall.............the full width of the training ring, not far you might think but for Penny, with all those other dogs to stop and play with, and the added chance to get up a good speed and greet me with a full height hug at the other end this could be disastrous. We have never managed a sit at the end of our recall so fortunately my husband caught this video.
So big celebration we graduated, congratulated our new best friend and went home very proud of our very first Certificate from The Dog Training Club of St Petersburg Florida.
