Copenhagen in Montgomery-Hounding the RiverWalk

Actually, I did get some photos of the historic Riverwalk in Montgomery, AL and I will be sharing them eventually but in the meantime…meet Copenhagen. Mom and I first saw Copenhagen in downtown Montgomery along with his owner Matt. Matt is a soldier stationed somewhere around Montgomery for special training. He adopted Copenhagen from the animal shelter about 8 months ago. Copenhagen has the most polished manners I’ve ever seen in a hound dog. He’s sweet and personable. Matt had Copenhagen down on the Riverwalk to continue socializing him. He seems pretty comfortable to me and there were hundreds of people around participating in some sort of Ironman type festival. Runners, weight lifters, cyclists…it doesn’t get any more distracting than that for a dog!

I gave Matt my card and told him I’d be posting photos of this beautiful dog, so hopefully he’ll check them out. I thanked him for his service and I’d also like to thank him for rescuing Copenhagen from the shelter. Hounds typically left in shelters do not luck out like this.

Copenhagen looks like a pretty cool dude, as is Matt for rescuing him.  You and Mom are tearing it up in your travels.  Sweet.

Mona, I simply love your tale and photos of Copenhagen. You are bringing back memories of me living in Montgomery and I remember when they built the River Walk and the paddlewheel boat the Robert E. Lee.

Hi Mona. So I read your title and thought, you got to Cpenhagen in AL. What a lovely story and outcome. Just terrific.

Roger, Mom and I are hanging in Balsam for a few days and then on the road again...back to St Pete. Copenhagen is a gorgeous dog and Matt is obviously the apple of his eye.

Hi Sharon, it is wonderful considering that hounds are sometimes the first to be surrendered and the last to get adopted.  there is nothing like a hound for faithfulness and devotion.

Gary, I have a photo of a paddlewheel that I'll post later.

Sheila, I knew you'd like it.

He is a beautiful young dog.  Looks something like my daughter's dog, Bruce. Wonder how he got to be named Copenhagen? He is tobacco colored.

I've always wanted to go to the Shakespeare Festival.  Love to hear all about it.

I need an Alabama quarter to complete my collection of state quarters.  Check your change.

Barbara-Jo, this was my pleasure.  I enjoyed meeting Copenhagen and Matt both.

Glenda, what a delight to hear from you.  The Festival was fabulous and I look forward to telling you all about it.  Stop by for coffee sometime soon.  I'll be leaving Saturday to drive back to FL with Mom and then will fly home Monday evening.

William, after your comments I went back and looked at those photos again and feel like you are right on the money...that boy has love written all over his face.

Copenhagen looks relaxed and contented. My rescue yorkie is hyper and excitable. When on a leash he thinks he is Hercules! Enjoy your trip!

Hi Wayne, those Yorkies always have an inflated sense of self!  He thinks he's Hercules is pretty funny.

Mona:  I'm chuckling here.  What a happy little face Copenhagen has!  And even via a photo, you can see the shine in his coat.  There's no doubt that he lucked-out finding his new master, Matt ... but I'm thinking Matt got kinda lucky too ...

Those hound dogs!  They think just cause they have those big brown eyes and big floppy ears that we'll all just get sucked in.  Oh yea, we do.

Leslie, I can't believe I didn't see this comment before today.  Resistance is futile.

Elyse, this dog only had eyes for Matt.  A true and loyal friend.  I hope they have a long and happy life together.
