You Too Can Be A Road Warrior REALTOR®!
As most of you know, I'm an engineer by trade and a licensed REALTOR® for the last eight years. My day job sometimes puts me on the road. Grab the laptop, Crackberry, throw a few changes of clothes in the bag and I'm ready to catch the next plane to wherever business takes me. Not a HUGE amount of travel by any means, but enough that I've had to add some technology tools I wouldn't normally need to teaming up with Liz from hundreds of miles away is now even easier.
Because even though sometimes we can talk through an issue over the phone, nothing beats actually having eyeballs on the problem. So what tools are making our lives easier when I have to travel? We've mentioned most of these tools before, and these are all FREE, or nearly so!
- LogMeIn. Leave your home or office computer logged up and running. Install this free software and you can access that computer from anywhere! For a charge you can increase capability, but basically from my road laptop with the free version, I can bring up a virtual screen and do everything I'd do from that computer. Read email, send email, view a file I need and more. Perfect for when we both need to be away for some reason. - Join.Me. Another FREE download and this enables you to see someone else's computer screen while they're doing something after they provide you a 9 digit code to enable sharing. They can do a Powerpoint presentation, show you a picture, point out a computer problem, AND with their permission you can take Remote Control and help with a problem. - PDAnet software. Lots of airports and public places now have free Internet access, but do you REALLY want to pay $9.99 for an hour of use before your plane leaves? For less than $20 I installed the software and can now tether my Blackberry to my laptop. Sure beats paying Verizon $15 or more PER MONTH to have the same capability. Visit www.JuneFabrics.com. So even if you're NOT a road warrior, but just a REALTOR® taking a weekend trip and need to keep an eye on things (I know in a perfect world there's ALWAYS someone who can cover you business), these tools just might make your life easier just like they have mine.
