Instagram: the new word that has swept through the world of social media and the app that was downloaded 50 million times in just one short year. This new wave of “social” has taken the social media world by storm, and was recently purchased by Facebook for a whopping $1 billion. But why? Why has an app as simple as snapping a photo been so successful? Well, if you haven’t heard, photos control the web – and that is especially true in real estate. Without photos, who would come see any of your properties? Although the program was designed to help people connect through photography, Instagram has launched outside of the social sphere and into businesses – including real estate.

As real estate agents, you no doubt know by now how important photos are to your real estate marketing efforts. But with your busy schedule, there’s not always time in a day to bring all of your photos to the office and get them uploaded to your various marketing sites. That’s why Instagram is so effective. You can connect with friends, colleagues and people all over the web within seconds. From your real estate virtual assistants, here are just a few reasons to get connected with Instagram.

It’s Limitless: When you’re posting photos to your MLS or REALTOR.com, there is more likely than not a limit. When it comes to Instagram, limits don’t exist. Was there a particular feature in a home you’ve recently marketed that you failed to highlight in your initial marketing efforts? No problem. With one quick click on your iPhone or Android that feature can be spread across multiple platforms within seconds. With your regular camera or without the use of Instagram, displaying that photo could take hours. First you have to get back to your computer. Then you have to upload the photo to your computer. Then you have to login to all of your marketing sites, post the photo – and so on and so forth.

It Syncs: Want to post your new property to Facebook and Twitter before it even goes live in the MLS? EASY. Give all those potential home buyers a sneak peek of your up and coming listing with the use of Instagram. When working in a fast paced real estate market, you may find yourself constantly on the go. With the help of this influential app, you can share important photos while away from your desk or office. This is absolutely necessary for those real estate pros who want to go above and beyond while staying a step ahead of the competition.

It’s Pretty: That’s right. I used the word “pretty.” Instagram goes beyond your average camera built into your phone. With Instagram, you can frame the photo, as well as alter the photo with color photo filters. That’s what I call “Photoshop talk.” Experimenting with the photo filters means you can take a dull picture and turn it into something fresh, eye-catching and sharp. Try the “Amaro” filter for a brighter look or the “Rise” filter for a softer look, or “X-pro II” to give it some edge. Click the check mark once you’re done and choose which social platforms to share with.

We know you’ve been bombarded with the changes of social media for the past few years now, but really, this is SO easy. Within no time you’ll be absolutely fluent (and addicted) to this new tool, and you will love seeing all of your pictures get the feedback they deserve. Social media has been and will continue to play an important role for any real estate professional looking to stay in the game of today’s competitive real estate market, and Instagram is just another tool we should all have on our radar. As real estate virtual assistants, we have researched and learned this new tool and would be happy to get you started on your own photo stream.

Have an awesome day!

Hi Gina, we couldn't agree more! What's so great about Instagram is that is provides an easy-to-use way to snap photos on the go and share them with your online network. What's even BETTER is that the special features Instagram provides can make even the most amateur of photographers look amazing. We highly recommend using Instagram to share photos on Facebook and Twitter. Studies show that posts that have images get more interaction than all text posts. We're becoming a more "visual" society. If you're strapped for content to post on Facebook and Twitter, photos are definitely a great alternative, and Instagram really does make that easy!

We're glad that you commented on another one of our blogs! We hope you find more of our blog posts helpful :).

Hi Lisa, thank YOU for reading our blog! Have you hopped on Pinterest yet? We love it. It's been a great way for us to showcase our samples. Used the right way, you can really come across as a community expert and draw in future clients with your pictures of "dream homes." It's all about getting creative and using the site to give the consumer what they want. We also like the idea of having a "humor board" to give your followers a chuckle each day.
