Are your office Meetings worth your time?

Real Estate Broker/Owner with WHISPERING PINES REALTY 20398180

I have long ago listened to the complaining that office meetings do NO good.

I do believe that attitude plays a part in them.  But in the computer age, we can reach out to all the agents VIA a video clip to be watched from their home computers.

This way, everyone gets the information every time a meeting is scheduled.

It isn't the perfect system, but some kind of incentive could be built in.

At any beats calling a meeting just because you feel you need to.

Ah Bill, This is great!  I do hate meetings, especially the ones that are done because it is Wednesday and thats what we do.  UGH!

We are actually more productive in ours that apparently you are.  We pitch our new listings to each other in house first as our company controls market share and we try to sell/rent in house and go for both sides before sharing with co-brokes.

After all, we have a 10 year plan to total market domination and we are at 6 years now.

I like the office meetings.  9 times out of 10 I learn something that will assist me with my business.

I'm with Joan on this one...overall, I enjoy our office meetings and they are usually time well spent learning and keeping up to date on things. And the company and companionship can't be beat!

As long as there is a plan and you can actually learn something new. Those "regular" Monday morning meetings? Agents are independent contractors and need to use their time wisely. In a large office I would think actually previewing onsite new listings amongst each other would be great rather than sitting around a table.

As long as they have some free pizza I think I will enjoy them!

William~ I don't mind office meetings as long as they are productive and kept to the agenda.  Often times, valuable information is shared.  I have to say, I like the video idea!  :-)

It all depends on the meeting. If there are things to share or problems / solutions to discuss, then I think the interaction is great. Otherwise - a waste of time.

Bill -- We have our meetings online (gotomeeting) once a week and occasionally onsite. I enjoy them and am bummed out when I can't make it. I'll even listen in from my car if I have to.  There's always a good share of information and we brainstorm together.  As long as we stay focused, they're usually quite effective.

Bill, the meetings you had were very good, but being a small office I know there was less to cover.

I admit that I never liked the office meetings. Now I have not been to one in at least two years...I dont think we even have them anymore.

Hi Bill,

I have an office in the corner of my building.  There are 3 computer terminals right outside my door - we have a daily office meeting that inclludes banter on the current state of the market.  When I wasn't (or am not) here I would get texts and calls asking where and how I was.  Nice.

My sentiments exactly.  If I need to talk to my broker, he is a phone call away.

Bill, there's always something new to be learned, however, having a meeting just for the sake of having one is more than a bit annoying.  I really don't need to be told more than once what I should be doing to generate more sales or how to stay in front of customers, etc. I've done this for a while so I think I have a clue.  I'm not being arrogant about it, but look around you...real estate agents are pretty well informed.  "Meetings...we don't need no stinking meetings"!!! :)
