Oubliette is the new word of the day.

Oubliette is the new word of the day.

I’ve seen homes that remind me of this.  The origin of the word is from France and the break down looks like (oo’ble et’) but can you guess its meaning?  This would make a great place to store wine for those of you who drink adult beverages.  If you haven’t guessed it by now you won’t so the meaning of the word is a concealed dungeon having a trap door in the ceiling as its only opening.  Although I wouldn’t suggest you call a basement a dungeon I know of a few couples that would like to have one when they get into an argument.  ;~) enjoy the day

Hi James.  So it has to have a trap door on the top.  I guess ladders are a necessity.

James, your choice of words for the day are taking a twist for the strange. You need to list and sell more and play golf less. When you have idle time your mind tends to wander! By the way, Rob payed me for the play golf less part! He's jealous!

James- I've only had one basement, which our Realtor called the lower level.  I'm certainly glad it did not have a oubliette!

Hi James,

I find these "Oubliette's" all the time.

One time I found one the owner did'nt even know was there. When I went into what I thought was the crawl space. It was a large room with a "STILL" that was hooked up to the Chimney. Not in operation but it had been for a long time.

Never know what you might find.

Have a great day.

Best, Clint McKie
