I Have To Do That!!??
I love being a Realtor®. There's nothing like handing the keys to 1st Time Homebuyers and seeing their excitement or helping a family sell their home when you realize you've helped engineer a deeply important move that will be a significant marker in their lives.
Each transaction requires successfully getting a buyer and seller together and negotiating everything from price to closing dates and having an agreement both parties feel good about. But getting to that point requires all sorts of skills, and not just the ones we like to toot our horns about (me included). I love showing my successful
marketing endeavors to home sellers, it's great to explain buyers what my years of experience have taught me in regards to negotiating but there are some things I do, I think most Realtors® do that go far and beyond the sphere of typical Realtor® service.
I have, on occasion, simply cleaned someone's home. I always take an initial walk through with my homeowners and explain that we all get accustomed to our own environment and don't always see our homes through the eyes of strangers. I then explain we have to do a deep de-cluttering in order to get the home ready for "showtime". Sometimes I recommend some painting, usually they get it but on more than one occasion I show up for an open
house or a showing and find food and dishes in the sink, on the table, clothes in corners...so what do I do? I do what has to be done, I clean dishes, hide laundry in storage areas, I've even cleaned toilets! It's not my favorite part of the job but as a licensed Home Stager, I'm particularly attuned to the homes appearance. The better it looks, the easier it is to sell - no matter what the price. I don't want to harp on all the things, "above and beyond" Realtors® do in service to our clients but when the public feels our job is easy they don't realize the half of it!
I bet other Realtors® have some stories that give the term "Full Service" a whole new meaning!
