** I'll be sending over an offer to you TODAY!..... Don't you HATE that?! **

By
Real Estate Agent with exp realty

I GOT AN OFFER!! That was what I thought BUT....it's interesting why there is always a BUT to most things. This gluteus maxi......well, never mind. I got a call from an agent two weeks ago who said she would be sending over an offer to me on a listing I have. Well, I said that is great and I informed her where to send it to since I have a personal fax number. I told her to call me before sending it over so I can make sure I got it.

The day came and passed and the next day the same thing. Still Nothing...NADA...Zilch....YO!, my fax machine is working good, ya know? Mama mia! Que paso! Where is my offer! (sounding a little like Ricky Ricardo there. Lucy! Where aaaare you? j/k) Ok, I should calm down.... (breathe slowly). I called the agent back at her office, on her cell phone, her son's phone (yes, she gave it to me so I was not doing any special detective work to get it, it's all legal). Still, there was ABSOLUTELY no response. I found that to be rather strange....more like strangling if I might add... :] So, guess what I did? I moved ON!

Well, Ms. Cupcake (ie. if I'm annoyed by someone I'd like to call them some kind of food) arrives again out of the blue and called me on my cell phone! Hey, at least I didn't called her a Double Fudge CocoMocha Minted Strawberry Banana Split Sundae!

Ooohhh.... you don't want to be near me if that ever came out. Yum yum...I'm talking about the food....not humans here. :)  So, she called me this afternoon to say she will be sending over an offer. Moi? Oui oui, merci beaucoup! (pardon moi...excuse si mi French)

Is anybody home? What happened during the past two weeks? I asked her and she said that she was busy and couldn't call back earlier. What?!

You've got to be kidding me!? So you are FREE now? Would you like tea with your cookie Ms Cupcake? I didn't tell her that but that was what was going through my mind. I am hoping for this deal to come to fruition. I like to be positive about this and so I believe I WILL get that offer! If not, watch out Pinochio, you are in deep @$#%! as the competition has now gotten more intensed! Here comes Ms. Cupcake, right at your tail! So, until we meet again....I had to get back to my language lessons....

QUESTION: Don't you HATE when agents promise they will be sending over an offer and it NEVER happen? Have you had this experience before? Were you annoyed at this? All I want for Christmas and the New Year is you, you, and you (....that is, if you are bringing me an offer on my listings :)

Confession Time! Fess up agents! For those agents who have done this (saying that you'll send offers but you don't) and want to come clean and clear your name, this is your opportunity. The worst that can happen to you here is that you may be called a Fruitcake....or some kind of delicious desserts.  I may even send you a fruitcake that I have locked in the pantry for 10 years. :) Enjoy!

Clients have changed their minds, but we ALWAYS call back the agent and tell them if that is the case.

No confession here, I've NEVER done this and I know from past experience I'd really prefer not to enter into a transaction with this "piece of shitake mushroom covered cheesecake". She'll likely be just like this throughout the whole thing!

Good luck!

I have never done this.  I believe in not saying a word until the ink is dry on the paper and check in hand!

Bob/Carolin: The trick is even trying to get a hold of them. They don't answer calls. They're probably hiding behind that marshmallow.

Colleen: There you did it.....just let it out!

James: I hope you added cream to it too.

Rick: You're a good agent. Too many don't do that and promise you the world sometimes.

Wayne, some agents don't treat it as such sometimes.

Bonnie, go ahead and fire away! :)

Christina, it is definitely a pet peeve for me too.

I did it once, the client was meeting me to sign the paperwork.  They never showed up, never called, nothing.  I can only assume that something happened and they had to join the Witness Protection Program or got lost and still looking for me two years later.

I waited and waited and finally gave up and went to have a late lunch and a couple beers.  Then I ran into a friend and hung out for a while longer.  Then I had to go home and see the wife and kids, then bathtime, get them settled into bed.  The next morning we left for the weekend, had a nice trip.  By Monday morning I had put it behind me and moved on to the next.

Well the LA had been calling and calling and by Sunday night it appeared that she had had one to many rum soaked raison in her ice cream.  I still had hope that my buyer would awake from a comma and call, or the aliens would bring them back home, or they would be able to dig out of whole that swallowed them.  I did at least send her an email and told her there was a issue with the missing buyer.  She was even more mad.

So now, I never say Im sending an offer unless its loaded in the fax machine and ready to go.

By the way, its been 2 years and that buyer is still missing.  If anyone has any info please call me or have them call me.  I just want to make sure they are safe HAHA!!!

Chad,

That is an interesting story. I'll keep an eye out for them. I'll pass the word around the rain.
