What REALLY Constitutes A Safe Area?? As I sit here typing this, watching the news on the Clackamas Town Center shooting, my heart is heavy for those two known persons that have lost their lives, others that were injured or those there that have had their world of safety shattered. I've shopped here so many times and have always considered this area as safe as any can be. This mall is only a ten minute drive from my home and I could have easily been one of the many shoppers in there today. I'm asked frequently as a Portland REALTOR® what is a safe area. Of course I can't answer this as not only is my idea of safe different than others, I can't "steer" you to or from certain areas. I can remember my best friend and I getting lost in the Bronx. NY. This is not typically known for being on...

Meet Jim and Robin Condie, the owners of the Clackamas Great Harvest Bread Company located in the Clackamas Promenade on Sunnyside Ave. This great family brought in the young women’s group of our church which my daughter is a part of. Their goal today was to teach the girls how to make bread and teach them about grains and what they can do for our bodies. Wow, I learned a lot while I was there and was amazed at what the Condies have to do each and every day to bring us this awesome tasting bread. I was amazed to find out that an unbroken wheat berry will last forever. They have found 3000 year old wheat berries and planted them and they grew. (How cool is that?) But, there are 3 parts to the wheat berry that are similar to an egg. The shell is wheat bran, the inner part is white flower...

Today, I became Santa for the day for the SantaPaws event at the Clackamas PetSmart. You never know how an event like this is going to do, but I’m proud to say I made the most amount of money in the region for the Oregon Ferret Shelter in Oregon City. I would really like to thank all of readers of my blog and my followers on Twitter and Facebook for coming out and supporting me for such a great cause.

What is the The X Factor? Well aside from being another talent show transplanted from the UK, it is that extra special characteristic that sets an individual apart from others and makes them stand out. The same appeal can sometimes be found in homes that are on the market. While every home has a unique personality and look, bringing out it’s best attributes so potential buyers fall in love is where home staging comes in. Nothing can be taken for granted when marketing what is typically a person’s largest investment. Hiring a professional home stager to ensure your home is presented as well as possible can be one of the most important steps in a successful sale. Synergy Staging helped showcase this investment property so it would stand out from the many similar properties in the neighbor...

Clackamas County Real Estate: Summerfield Park One of the most awesome things about living in Oregon is the neighborhoods. A lot of neighborhoods in Clackamas County are built with families in mind and that is very evident by how many are built with small little parks within them. Summerfield Park is a prime example of these great neighborhood parks. If you are looking for a great family neighborhood with parks right within them like Summerfield Park, then give us the Friendly Home Team a call, we would love to help your family home!

If you aren’t going to feed me, we are going to have a problem! This is the attitude this duck gave me when I came to take some pictures of his little pond area. Now, this guy came right up to me, there was no fear and he gave me some serious attitude. As you can see, he titled the head and gave me the look. He didn’t have to say a thing to me, I knew what he was saying without having to say it. Bad news for him was, I didn’t bring anything and we decided to leave since I wasn’t sure what was going to happen next.

What?  Home inspections are a good thing aren't they?  Of course home inspections are a good thing.  Any smart buyer would get one.  It only makes sense to make sure you understand the condition of a purchase as big as a home.  Why beware? Because, your lender could require a copy.  Again, this is not automatically a bad thing.  The lender is concerned about the condition of the collateral on your loan.  They want your home ownership to be successful, and not end up as one of the many that are being foreclosed on.  They also don't want to end up paying for repairs that a buyer thought they could handle, but didn't when the house ends up being foreclosed on.  So, when can it be a bad thing?  When the lender goes beyond the scope of the loan.  EVERY house has a few issues.  Many buyers un...

“Action is a great restorer and builder of confidence. Inaction is not only the result, but the cause, of fear. Perhaps the action you take will be successful; perhaps different action or adjustments will have to follow. But any action is better than no action at all.” Norman Vincent Peale Over the years I have learned that the best made plans will need adjustments. There will always be unforeseen circumstances arising in your business, personal and spiritual goals. I have started several businesses and it has been very unusual when I didn't have to make adjustments. The reason we have to adjust is, we don't always know all we need to know before we set out on a quest to reach a goal. We think we know what we're doing, but that is hardly ever the case. There is always something to tweak...

Sizing up Your Structure: First Year Home Warranty Inspections   You've been in your new home now for all four of the seasons; you may have learned about a leak in the basement during the winter or a sticky window during the spring, but what other issues might you have missed? New homes are often plagued with structural defects and flaws in construction - both minor and major - that slowly come to light during the first year of occupancy. A professional inspection of your new home while it is still under warranty can help you find and address many of these issues at a minimal cost to you. At Pillar To Post, we recommend you have an inspection done after eleven months to ensure you have enough time to bring any flaws or defects to your builder's attention before your warranty expires....

Don't be fooled - Despite their CEO's insistence that it's the housing market that caused his companies 33% drop in earnings and the stock market's subsequent 200 point tumble on the news, most experts believe it's the make up of the portfolio of the largest mortgage banker that is the real ticking time bomb(I can't tell you who the lender is, but their name start's with C and ends in wide).  Their CEO has sold over $300,000,000, yes that 300 million dollars of stock in the last year.  Of course, he claims it's just an asset allocation move for his personal finance, but it appears that this captain is not going to be the last one to leave the ship. What's the time bomb, you ask?  News items regarding OPTION ARMS are becoming more and more commonplace in the media.  As homeowners become a...
