Tuscaloosa Real Estate FAQ: How do I find out the price of my home?

A real estate agent can give you a suggested price for your home.  Many agents send out periodic market snapshots to their customers and clients.  All you have to do is visit their website or ask.  I went to lunch with a friend of mine yesterday.  I know that she and her husband are looking forward to retirement, but it will probably be a few years until they actually place their home on the market.  When she asked me how to find out the price at which her home would sell, I told her that I would be happy  to send her the information.  So, just ask.

Now, you may have another reason besides curiosity to find out the current market value of your home.  In the case of a refinance or estate planning, you will need to order an appraisal.  You can ask friends or family for a recommendation, or, of course, call a real estate professional for a recommendation.

Finally, if you are asking this question, you are probably thinking of doing something with your home now or in the future.  Get a real estate professional involved early.  Real estate agents have current, local market knowledge that can help you, whatever your plans.  Bringing in a professional can help point out positive and negative selling points, evaluate future plans, prioritize, and help you feel and be competitive in the current market.  Again, we do much more than unlock doors, we are here to be your partner.
