Burger King Steals McDonald's NOT, so why are we letting it happen???

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Five Corners Properties

Maybe you think that the idea of Burger King stealing secret recipes from McDonalds is farfetched....

But I think not...

In fact I think what the real estate community has allowed by folks like Zillow, Trulia, etc... taking our "IP"

Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce.

and using it to build a business model that actually pours gas on the fire by selling it back to us or even worse allowing our competition to use it is blowing my mind!

FOLKS...HOW DID WE LET THIS HAPPEN...

I applaud the efforts of Edina Realty and Sandicor for getting going...and my hero award for 2012 goes to Mr. Jim Abbott and his San Diego firm ARG for taking a stand on a topic they obviously feel so strongly about. See his well produced video

It is not an easy thing to do being an activists, and Jim Abbott is to real estate as Paul Watson is to Whales....

But you know what, it our job...yours, mine, and everyone in the real estate profession to get involved and to help make some changes...

I hope this blog is widespread, gets republished, and that a bunch of us will start to push back and end the madness of paying monthly fees to the Zillows, Trulias, Realtor.com for us to have the privledge of buying back our own leads.

What can you do... for a start... send this blog to as many Real Estate agents that you know.... lets share ideas, support the ARG's of the world... and Jim has followed up with take 5 meaning the next 5 listings that your office gets... dont allow them to be syndicated
