Housing Counseling Program


 

 

Description

The Tuscaloosa Housing Counseling Program offers assistance in many different housing-related matters including pre-purchase counseling, consumer education, money management, and much more.

 

HOME Program

The City of Tuscaloosa provides one-time down-payment assistance in the amount of $5000 for qualified households to assist them in purchasing a home.

Qualifications

Some of the basic qualifications are (but are not limited to):

  • Must complete the HOME application and meet the income guidelines
  • Must receive pre-purchase counseling by a HUD certified housing counselor
  • Must be approved by a lending institution to make a purchase, and thereafter complete the purchase
  • Must purchase property within the city limits of Tuscaloosa
