In the Vancouver Market should you replace the existing carpet with carpet or hardwood or ceramic tiles?

This was a blog post/article I found in one of my LinkedIn Groups. Take a read of it and I'd love to hear what you think. And of course there are lots of parameters to consider such as time, budget and energy!

When I teach my PRES home staging certification course I give my personal philosophy which is this: for my market I say 'yes' to carpet in bedrooms and formal living rooms; I prefer hardwood in living/family rooms and tiles in entranceways, kitchens (or linoleum) and bathrooms. In a Canadian study 85% of home owners said they preferred hardwood over carpet and I tend to agree.

It's always a good idea to go into showhomes in your area to see what they are doing. It's not necessarily the best way but it does show you what people are seeing out there.
