Yes Indeedy, ActiveRain Really Is Addicting.

By
Real Estate Agent with DPR Realty LLC.

I've posted a few blogs the last couple days just to see what the results would be with Google recognition and I was surprised to see how fast the posts link to my name and promoted my personal website. This really does work. I also tryed a couple different styles of writing to see what would get the best response and it seems that most prefer articles that are more light hearted and fun. Now, I know that we are all here to learn from each other and gain more visabilty on the internet but what good is all that if we can't have a little fun too. I'm glad to see that there are a lot of you that feel the same way.

I've had quite a bit of down time the last couple days but that will soon come to an end soon, so I definitly need to outline an AR schedule. This can get very addicting, but I think it's a good addiction. I read a lot of articles on things I need to improve on, some are very detailed and well written and others are more visual and relaxed. I have a lot to learn, and what better way to do that, than by first hand experiences shared by real estate professionals in the field such as yourselves.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm not setting any records here but I felt a lot better about my blogs when I learned how to insert photos and links.  Just more visually appealing overall.  I don't really care what gets the most attention, I write about what I feel like writing about.  I don't get those posts where people copy the stats from their board and post them.  Aren't the most interested parties IN their board and can get those stats for themselves?  I think you are right on about the light-hearted posts.  Above all, be yourself.  If you are truly addicted, you will spend a lot of time here.  No point pretending!

Enjoy your time here and scheduling it is a great way to keep it in check. Otherwise, it may eat up your whole day. Welcome to AR my friend.

Susan- Thank you for your advice, I totally agree with you. I think the reason for the article with the stats is because they become part of your identity when people google your name. I like being myself better though, and I don't mind if my clients know that I have a sense of humor. Most people like that and if they don't, we're not going to connect anyway.

Ryan- Yeah, it definitely will eat up your day. I can't let that happen. Thank you.

Vinnie, I agree that reading can be very addictive (and time consuming) but if you are learning it is time well spent!

Julie- 3:45? Now that's just crazy. Once the clock strikes 3:00 I'm out of here.

Lance- Yes, everyone wants to be googled. Google, Starbucks...what next?

Gary- I'm learning a lot, but I think I'm going to limit this to an hour  a day, or so:-)

Vinnie, and Julie, my family has a policy of not starting something new after 2AM; it's just not right.  So as long as you are on AR before then, you're good, doesn't matter how long you stay there!

Vinnie,

AR can be very rewarding as to marketing your business and learning about lots of different things related to real estate. However, it can also quickly swallow up way too much of your time and actually interfere with other activities. Setting up a schedule has worked for me.

My family gives me hard time for all the time I spend on AR.  But I am sure it is no difference than the time my daughter spends online with her friends.  I feel I have found a place where I can learn and share with people who are in the same profession I am.  Just because it is fun, doesn't mean it's not work...right.
