Pop-Tarts!  Get Your Pop-Tarts!

Did you know that Pop-Tarts typically sell out before a Storm?    They are considered one of the most popular items for the pantry during a storm.  Go ahead and stock up on the processed, sugary breakfast item before it's too late ;-)

You see folks, we have our first named storm of the 2012 Hurricane Season, and the season isn't even official yet!  Am I worried about Alberto?  No, it is forecasted to stay off the coast and will remain a Tropical storm, but it is still a darn good reminder that the time has come to Prepare!

Hurricane Season officially begins on June 1st and ends on November 30th, with peak season for us on the east coast running from late August - early September.  That does not mean that we can't see a storm anytime.  Alberto is proof of that.

So, go ahead and prepare.  Get your evacuation plans together.  Make sure you have your emergency supplies readily available and up to date.  Stock your pantry with bottled water and non-perishable food items (including Pop-Tarts).  This way, if & when a storm does hit.... You can avoid the rush at the local grocery stores, because you will be one of the few folks that are prepared ahead of time.

Don't forget about the pets!  There are many Hotels that allow pets, make sure you have a copy of their current medical records, and go ahead and drag out those kennels from the garage.

Believe it or not, I have never had a Pop Tart in my life.  Now about Alberto...............lets hope he stays away from you, but get yourself prepared just in case.

Amy, Pop Tarts are not popular in my house, perhaps because neither are hurricanes. I think I'd like to keep it that way. LOL

BE SAFE!

Hi Amy,

Good advice for the affected people in the storms path.

I like "POP TARTS" not my first thing on the list of things to get. But I can see why they would be for a lot of people.

Have a great day and I hope no storms come your way.

Best, Clint McKie

Having plans in place for disasters and emergencies is a great idea and very needed.  Eating Pop Tarts is quite another matter.  Those things are so full of stuff that is not good you that its not wise to even get near them.  That is..... IF you value health.

Josh - Great Comment!

Roger - It looks like we will not be in any path of Alberto!  I prefer NOT to eat Pop-Tarts, but must admit they come in handy.....

Ellen - Glad to hear that Pop-Tarts are not popular in your house!  They are only popular in our house after being without electricity & water for a few days....

Clint - I could not believe the Pop-Tart Shelves at the local grocery stores before Irene.... Totally bare!  We try to stock up on fruits, bagels and "better" items, but they do come in handy after a few days.

David - We have "hurricane parties".... everyone cooks out and shares what it is left in their freezers.  Can't seem to get my seven year old to eat burgers & steaks for breakfast tho'.  That's when the pop-tarts come in ;-)

Jeanne & Ralph - We always have our plan and our emergency kit in place.  We buy Pop-Tarts only for hurricanes!  My seven year old doesn't even prefer Pop-Tarts, but he does prefers them over bagels after several days.  I don't even want to think about what is in a Pop-Tart ;-)

Janice - I'm not a fan either, but admit they can be super handy!  Walmart claims that they are one of the #1 selling items before hurricanes.... Pop-Tarts by candlelight.... NICE!

Laura - That's exactly what I was thinking ;-)  We have them in the pantry!

Brenda - I hope we never even have to break open the boxes!  Alberto seems to be stearing clear of us, but I would always rather be prepared.... Just in case!

Wow! The pop tart thing surprises me.  I guess because you don't need anything to eat them. Just open and eat. I'll put some in the camper. ;). Roger:  Brown sugar and cinnamon! :) It's not good for taking it off in the rain... But in case of emergency...

Amy, the way it's done here in Alabama...and you should know this...we wait for the first sign or threat of a snowflake or storm then run out for milk, bread and gasoline...not sure why there is a run on gas because no one drives anywhere...don't you miss AL :)
