When showing properties to folks, I always try to hear what is being said and not said.
Most of the time, there are commonalities between spouses that seem to fit, or compliment, each other.
Then there are the times that are more lop sided, where the dominating spouse seems to be doing all of the talking, while the subserviant spouse is in the background, typically nodding their head in agreement.
Then there is this kind of couple. They both want views, but for the life of them, they can't or won't agree on anything else.
She wants tile in the Kitchen. He wants hardwood. She wants carpeted bedrooms. He wants hardwood. She wants a Garden Shed. He wants a workshop. She wants a garden and a lawn. He wants zeriscaping. She wants to be close to town. He wants to be far enough away to not hear traffic.
Maybe it's a test?
Taking it all in, for me, is a good way to get an overall idea of what is truly being said. This couple has been here once before and after this last debacle, I'm confident will be here again. They live in New Mexico, in a town about 130 miles from here.
I did, however, tell them to both sit down and write up a list of things that would be in their ideal home. I also asked them to list things that would NOT be accepatable in any fashion. I also asked them to write down what they would compromise on.
This Couple has been married forever and now have Grandchildren. I think they should be able to come up with a pretty substantial list. :::Crosses fingers:::
Once I get this list, I'll be able to use it as a tool to find them the right home. They're both headstrong and this just may be the challenge I need right now.
I guess we all agree to disagree at one time or another...
