Sign, sign everwhere a sign

The New Hampshire Primary elections for president of the United States of America are upon us. On Tuesday, January 8, 2008 the first in the nation primary election will be held. You can't miss it, you can't forget it, you can't ignore it because everywhere you look in the state you will see a campaign sign.

People will use any vacant space or creative way to display their favorite candidates campaign sign.

Do you think that people really base their vote on the number of signs they see for a certain candidate?

You drive down the street and there are so many signs lined up especially at intersections and highway entrance ramps.

I don't know who will win on either side of this race but I know this.....There is a sign for every candidate stuck in a snow bank alongside the road here in New Hampshire.

I guess the message I am trying to get across here is, if you live in New Hampshire, go to the polls on Tuesday 1/8/08 and vote for the candidate of your choice.

If you don't know who to vote for, it is not too late to do some homework to determine the candidate that you believe will serve this nation with all his/her heart.

By all means DO NOT choose a candidate based upon the number of signs he or she has posted near your town.

We still live in the greatest nation on earth and it is our duty to take the privilege of voting seriously.

AMEN Judy!  I just started working on a post today that is on this same subject.  It probably won't get posted until next week sometime.  Nevada is having a caucus instead of a primary election this time (beats me what the difference is) I plan on being there. No matter what your party affiliation is or is not, it is important to make your voice heard!

Mary,  Thank you for commenting. I don't know exactly why they put more emphasis on primaries rather than caucuses. Are caucuses open to independant voters? I am an independant but can vote by declaring a party affiliation at the time I go to the poll and vote in that primary only.

Jay, I had so many pictures and wanted to remain as neutral as possible.

Monika, Did you see the Monarchs? Did they win? I hear they are a great ticket. The debates were in Mnachester tonight. I didn't hear them though. I'm kind of wondering what Tuesday will be like. I don't remember there being such hype in the past.

Judy...Yes we were at the game but they lost in over time...it was heartbreaking. The pub we had dinner in prior to the game....was full of the press and was the base for the Romney supporters...They bused them in to watch the debate there. It was pretty exciting to see.

Linda - Our family was not political but politics were supper conversation - never out of control though.

Monika - Bummer they lost but I have heard they are exciting to watch. I would like to have been there to watch the political reporters at dinner, sounds like it was interesting.

Judy, I always try to vote in every election; even if it is ony a small local water board election.  We are so blessed to live in a country where we have the freedom to go to the polls and I for one always try to make use of it.

It was fun...they were setting up all the cameras and probably did a few live interviews but we left for the game. We usually go to Vickers before the game.

Marchel - I too try to remember to vote in every election although the local town elections sometimes come and go without my remembering but come the 1st Tuesday in Nov.I'm there. We are blessed as a nation. Too many take our liberties for granted.

Moni - I'm surprised you didn't blog about the experience. Did you take some pictures?

The only thing I find good about any election is two days after the election the city pics up all the signs and I can go down and pick up all the stakes for my directional signs for free. Usually the rest can be considered fertilizer for my garden.

Todd - I never thought of going to the town for stakes. That's a good idea. I am disappointed to hear you don't think there is anything good about elections. Would you rather someone else decided for you who will make our laws etc? I do think government is too big and has it's hands way too deep in our pockets but I think voting can make a difference.

I have no problem with elections and voting, I do it every time, just always thought the primary's were a waist of time. Here in Oregon ours happens so late that 80% of the states are already done and the party's have already picked their candidates. Sick of all the political stuff knowing we still have 10 months of it!

Todd - I am glad to hear you are politically responsible. I do like your idea about the sign posts! It is a long process and this year seems even more so.

Monika - I'm surprised by the results but it seems the Republicans do not have a clear cut favorite and neither do the Democrats for that matter. I THINK THE BATTLE MAY BECOME REALLY MESSY.

We all have those signs to look forward to in November and I can hardly wait for it to be over so the mess goes in the trash,  Karen

Monika - I think they only have a couple days after the election to get them down or the town will remove them. Read Todd's first comment here to see what he does after the signs come down.

Karen - You are right about that. I just think it is funny that they post them anywhere and everywhere as if the more signs for a candidate the more people will vote for him/her. Do you think people vote for someone because they have a lot of signs? Thanks for commenting.
