The grand canyon was formed millions of years ago, dating back to the era of dinosaurs and beyond :) Many, including myself thought the grand canyon was carved out by only water, which is partially true. But the truth is, all the elements played a roll in creating this magnificent natural beauty.
wind erosion, sun, shifting of the earth to form the depth you see today, and it continues to change. At one point the grand canyon was even deeper then what you see now, about 5,000 more feet :)
every where you walked was allowing you to hike through history. Look carefully, do you see the small dimples carved into the stone? What you are seeing is actual fossilized lizard foot prints captured in time! Pretty cool :)
Look down below and you see beautiful cactus flowers. This is from the prickly cactus with a bloomed flower :)
It was so fascinating, the more you descended into the canyon, the more you understood the different layers in how it was created and the life that is still very much thriving :)
