CHATHAM RETROFEST MAY 25 & 26/2012

This year's Chatham Retrofest will kick off with a Parade of Vintage Cars and Motorcylces on Friday night starting at the Union Gas Parking lot on Keil Dr. at 7 P.M. Thousand of people turn out on the parade route or to the parking lot to view the cars and talk one on one to the owners while they get ready for the parade.The Impressive lineup of vehicles will proceed out the River Rd. on the Dover side to the Prairie Siding Bridge and back the River Road on the Raleigh side ending up at Historic Downtown Chatham. Crowds of spectators line both river roads to catch a view of these great examples of years gone by and relive the memories they conjure up.There are always plenty of people waiting for the parade's arrival to Historic Downtown Chatham at about 8 P.M.

Friday night at 8 P.M. 'Glory Days' a Bruce Springsteen Experience is showing at the Capitol Theatre Downtown or take the children to a free movie outside in beautiful Tecumseh Park.

Saturday King St. is a must. From 10 A.M. until 4P.M.the Classic Cars line King St. and the Vintage and Classic Motorcycles Display can be seen on William St/King St. Visitors can get a close up look and speak to the proud owners who have spent thousand of hours restoring these treasures.Spend the day. Have lunch at one of the many King St. restaurants or enjoy a treat at any one of the specialty food vendors who come for this yearly event.There will be children's entertainment and face painting which is always a hit for the little ones.

There will be 2 performances of 'The Fab Four' a Tribute to the Beatles on Saturday at 2 P.M. and 8 P.M. at the Capitol Theatre on King St. Visit Tecumseh Park off King St. on the banks of the Thames where there will be a Beer Tent sponsored by the Kinsmen and Local Entertainment from 4 P.m.-10:30 P.M.

Thanks to the many sponsors for this Annual Chatham-Kent Event thousands of visitors pour into the area. Owners anxious to show off their prize possessions put this date on their calenders and come from all over the U.S. and Canada.
