Realtor.com Does the General public use it?

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with KELLER WILLIAMS
This topic seems to keep on popping up in my office and also with the listing of my own house.Do serious potential buyer use Realtor.com ? I think it is probably more popular than a company specific website. Before I became a agent I never went to a Keller William's , Caldwell banker, remax website. I went straight to Realtor.com. I skipped all of the houses that did  not have interior photos. Now I know that the ones with out photos are sometimes the best ones! So how important is Realtor.com to you as agents?

I am not a r.com fan and I think the public has moved on to other sites. Agents and Brokers have developed more user friendly sites compared to when r.com first launched. Google is the site of choice now - a site that leads a buyer or a seller to many different web pages, away from r.com . . . Interesting post. I look forward to reading the comments you receive.

It's strange, but I haven't yet encountered a client or customer who mentioned browsing Realtor.com for information or listings.  I have sent a few clients to that site to look over what's there.

I tend to agree with Debbie above that the public is probably more confident about searching differently.  It appears to be more commonplace for people to search a particular area for real estate using Google.

I just renewed my r.com account.  Seems like the new year will bring many new internet exploring changes - can't wait!

Many of my clients have mentioned using Realtor.com but do complain about the inaccuracy of the information.  I always point them to my site on homesdatabase.com which is the public side of our MLS.

I do still use Realtor.com,  however, I do not get many calls from people that see my lisintings from this site.  I am getting more calls from people that have gone to homes.com and craigslist
