Upon listing a home for sale some agent take for granted that the Sellers know what to do when it comes to getting the home ready for showings. Here are some helpful tips on staging the home for showings:
1) LIGHTEN THINGS UP! Open the shades and drapes, let the natural light in. This could have a great reflection to the Buyer that if the home is light without using electricity, they will save money. It makes the home appear more cheery and not depressing as if it was dark in the home.
2) CHECK OUT THE COMPETITION! Who doesn’t love to go through model homes and get decorating ideas? Not only will you get decorating ideas but you can pick up on home staging ideas. Coloring schemes can add to the popularity of your home staging.
3) OPEN IT UP! Creatively defining spaces in each room can highlight the use of that room. Mudrooms can be neatly organized and noticed for its value. Offices can be orderly and make the room appear larger. Bedrooms that are neat and organized also give the impression you care about your home and it has not been roughly taken care of. There are many TV shows on how to make a room look larger also.
4) CURB APPEAL! There are simple things that can enhance the homes curb appeal. Trimming bushes and sweeping sidewalks, fresh flowers and raking the rocks can make a big impression. Front door and garage doors may need to be repainted to give a fresh look. Wash down the exterior home and screens. Dirt can collect and make the screens look older than they are. The exterior of the house may appear more like it got a new paint job once cleaned. A shined pair of shoes always looks cleaner!
