Your Email Address is again compromised and published if you list property and you probably don't even know it happened. A new company is now advertising our listings throughout the country off MLS feeds and additionally is openly publishing your email address on the World Wide Web for the spammers, spiders and the Bots to harvest and send you more spam. Just when I thought I had seen it all and had cleaned up anyone from publicly marketing my email address on pages on the internet. Do a Google search on your email address, the one you use in MLS and it will come up with it being published by Homes.org on a page with your listings. That means if you can see it, so can every other person on the web who wants to send you spam or virus or phishing emails.
Check out Homes.org They are now not only advertising your listings, they are also putting your email address right there on a page that is indexed by Google and available to everyone world wide to harvest your address. I thought that everyone understood that this was a huge problem and that the last person on the planet who would advertise an agents email address on a public web page would be a home site since they are in business too and know the damage this can cause you.
What should we, as fellow agents, all do to shut down this compromise of our email addresses before we get totally slammed. This company appears to just have been formed in March of 2012 homes.org press release
Check out the site and find your email address along with every listing agents address is now being published on a page with your listing. Anyone have any ideas of who to contact to shut this down. Who is selling them the information, our MLS's, Realtor.com??? Does anyone know who is doing this??? They appear to be connected to listinghub, however if they are getting information form them, listinghub has our email addresses, but does not publish them on an open page.
