Mama Kitty showed up at my home one year ago this month. -20 outside and this less than one yr old looked right in at my dining table from the porch and yelled at me, cried, shrieked. She was near death, almost limp when I picked her up. I got her in, and put her in my dogs kennel right here in my office by the baseboard heater. Kitty slept, ate, drank, used the litter box and never moved a muscle for 4 straight days. Once in a while she would look up to me and say thank you and then go back to sleep.
I had her for two weeks, but having been born down the road at the farm with an empty house she was an out door kitty. She wanted outside when the temperature did the usual January thaw.
Kitty came by most days. We fed her, she let me hold her and purred.
In August Mama kitty brought me, you know what, 4 kittens about 4 weeks old. Long story short. Mama kitty has been spayed, the girls and boys are happy and healthy. My husband had a "Cat Palace" built complete with wiring, lights, shelves, climbing posts two heated beds, a heated water dish that won't freeze, the kitties are doing well.
Except one
Pale face the shy female is back at the barn. One of Mama Kitty's ventures back to her birthplace and the little one did not come back.
Meanwhile the rotten owners of that deserted farm decide to butcher a calf and hang it in the barn. I said to myself if Pale Face cannot find the food we leave for her she can jump on that calf and start chewing.
Wrong: Those rotten farmers have put a baited trap big enough for a coyote just under the carcass. I snapped the trap and came crying home in an absolute rage. HOW DARE THEY. If they don't want an animal to chew on the carcass, then secure the gaping wide open doors and board up the broken window panes. Murdering morons I yelled
Now each day I go look and pray to God that Pale Face is not in that reset trap. I am so mad at those people I could scream. Why didn't they get Mama kitty fixed if they don't want cats around.
How can people be so cruel to a small cat.
