I was challenged in a real estate group on Facebook to write a blog on Memorial Day. Most of you who follow me know that I have not been blogging very much the last 7 months. So I came over here to Activerain and thought I would search my tags and see what all I had written before.
To my utter surprise, I saw that for the last 5 years I had always done a Memorial Day post,so this make year six of a Memorial Day post on Activerain.
As I reflected back the thought that kept stirring in me was that the more things change, in many ways they stay the same. When Jamie died in October from injuries that occured after a automobile crash, my life was literally turned upside down over night. Then when my granddaughter went to join him in heaven a month later...it was just unbearable.
Today, as I look back on the all the old blog posts I had written here (linked below) it was a time of reflection. I realize how time goes so quickly. The bible says it best, Life is a vapor. Mortality is a given... all of us will die.
When a soldier leaves home to serve his country they are literally putting their lives on the line for us, Americans. Freedom is not free, it comes with a price, a price that our forefathers understood and our soldiers understand today.
Ronald Reagan said it best,"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same".
