Can You Spare Some Change? Need AR Help!

handsSo it's been a little over two weeks (since joining) and close to 5,000 points later and I'm asking for some help from my AR brethren.  I've got a couple of questions; feel free to chime in and let me know what you think.

1. I know that posting to my blog helps my name come up first on a Google search, but I'd like to be even more effective.  What have you done that helps drive a search engine to your site?  Is it the tags?

2. I've read some amazing success stories about how AR has translated into instant value for it's members.  (See my friend Jim Skal's blog for a great example!)  What have you been doing to create value and business through your blog/site?

Any thoughts/ideas/success stories would be more than welcomed!  Mortgage-specific direction would be great, but general advice works for me as well.   I'm a big fan of learning through others' experience and there are a lot of amazing folks in AR.  Looking forward to hearing from you.  Cheers!

Mike - Tagging is certainly important but it is all about content. With great content you will move up in the ranks of Google. Make sure you are including relevant keywords for which you are looking to come up for in your posts.

Hey Mike,

I am still in the testing mode as well, doing a bunch of everything trying to see what works and what doesn't:)

Write good content.  Tag it well.  Organize it well.  Use appropriate keywords, but don't stuff it.  Make sure it is readable.  If you write anything that looks like

I am, Myname, a Mycity mortgage broker.  There are a lot of great opportunities in Mycity.  Mycity mortgage has never been better.  So, if you are looking for Mycity real esate, give Mycity mortgage a call, and ask for Myname.

Google will not give you the love for that.

Lane.  Good points.  You can't go fishing just dangling a hook in the water.

Charlie.  Thanks for the key words tip.  It's good to be purposeful with our writing.

Anne & Bill.   Content is king!  Blogs full of buzzwords are useless.   It's all about providing something of value and then sneaking in the keywords.  Thanks for the advice.

Brian.  Best of luck experimenting.  Looks like we'll work on this one together!

Melissa.  It's so cliche, but a picture is worth 1000 words, isn't it?  A little eye break never hurt anyone.

Andrew.  Thanks for your crisp & clear response!  I've already been to your blog and have been totally impressed, so I will take your words to heart.  Funny how much more effective my posts have been since adding a human touch.  So true.
