Loch Raven Day - This Saturday - History, Music, Wildlife and Tours of the Dam
A Family Friendly Fun Event - And It's Free!!
This is the 4th annual Loch Raven Day in celebration of National Public Works Week (which runs from May 20 to May 26). This event is reminiscent of the old days when families would take weekend trips to the Loch Raven Dam to enjoy the scenery, watch the wild life and fish in the reservoir.
The Public Works Department with some of their partnerships will be providing tours of the renovated and enlarged Dam. It's an opportunity to find out how our local water system works.
There will be photographic exhibits and maps of the area through history. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will show and tell about animals that inhabit the watershed.
If you like to hike there will be guided hiking tours at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm if the weather cooperates.
Pack a lunch or you can purchase hot dogs, chips and sodas onsite. Food is provided by the Baltimore Police Explorers.
Olton's Company of Baltimore Rangers will be there in their authentic 17th Century encampment, costumes and muskets. In past years this has been a popular attraction for both adults and childrens.
This year for the first time there will be live music on the dam. Mark Hopkins will be performing for visitors.
This looks like a fun event for the whole family!!
