THINGS TO REMEMBER THIS WEEKEND...Fran's Friday Forum...!!!
I want to share the thoughts of my friend Fran. We have MUCH to be thankful for as we enter this holiday. We live in a wonderful country that our ancestors founded where we are free to enjoy much! Relax, reconnect with friends and Give Thanks to God for giving us forgiveness and salvation through His son Jesus!!
My last few posts have been mainly POLITICAL in nature, and have focused on the imperative necessity of replacing our current President with one certainly more capable of leading us in the right direction...
This weekend, which serves to open the unofficial beginning of summer, not only commemorates MEMORIAL DAY, but for Christians, heralds the celebration of PENTECOST, THE BIRTHDAY OF THE CHURCH...!!!
While we continue to debate left and right politics, and disagree on solutions to solve our Nation’s Social, Economic, Health Care, and Energy woes, we citizens of the greatest Country on Earth have much to be grateful forand celebrate this weekend...!!! We need to be UNITED IN THIS REGARD...!!!
Memorial Day, should not just be a MONDAY EVENT...we need to take this time to meditate and remember those men and women in our Nation’s past who have given their lives in defense of FREEDOM, DEMOCRACY, and THE AMERICAN WAY...millions of selfless Americans have given their lives so that we and our families in the year 2012 and beyond can enjoy the inalienable freedoms that our Good God has given us...!!!
Another major event that we Christians will celebrate this weekend is THE FEAST OF PENTECOST...THE BIRTHDAY OF THE CHURCH...THE BODY OF CHRIST...The day when the HOLY SPIRIT would descend upon the disciples of JESUS in a spectacular way to infuse within them the power of HIS HOLY SPIRIT, and PROMISE TO REMAIN WITH THEM AND THEIR SUCCESSORS UNTIL CHRIST RETURNS IN GLORY...with the CONCURRENT PROMISE THAT THE GATES OF HELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST HIS CHURCH...!!!
Well, nearly 2000 years have passed since that holy event and our GOD HAS REMAINED FAITHFUL...!!! YES, there are many blood stains, heresies, divisions, martyrdoms, and scars that serve to identify THE LORD’S BODY...BUT SHE REMAINS ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC OR UNIVERSAL, and APOSTOLIC...!!!Join with me in praying that the GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding, Fortitude, Good Counsel, Piety, and Fear of the Lord, be in evidence today as it was on that FIRST PENTECOST, so we can all join in the prayer of SAINT PIUS X uttered in 1903..."TO RESTORE ALL THINGS IN CHRIST"...!!!
