Vermont Grill Purchased at Home Depot Explodes

By
Real Estate Agent with The English Team

My Vermont Grill manufactured by Vermont Castings for Home Depot has EXPLODED.  If you purchased a similar grill from Home Deopt and are currently using it on your patio or deck, please be careful.  I would recommend discontinuing use of this specific grill altogether as it is serious safety and fire hazard in my opinion.

Vermont Grill sold by Home DepotI purchased the Vermont Grill in the picture from Home Depot.  It came with a warranty from Vermont Castings but sadly, the company is no longer around and the warranty is worthless.  That is a disappointment but I had managed to continue to use the grill and the cosmetic stuff was no big deal anyway.

But WOW, I was not expecting a grill from Home Depot to become a backyard bomb.  I was heating up the grill to cook some chicken and heard an explosion.  I walked on to my patio to find parts blown all over the place and the grill on fire  under the grill deck in the casing.

I have removed the grill from my patio and it is on the way to the junkyard.  This grill cost a bundle and should have lasted much longer than it did.

You are very fortunate that you were not in front of the grill when it exploded.  Thanks for publishing so anyone else with one can return before it explodes.

I am glad you are ok!  I think Home Depot will take it back.

I'm glad you were not hurt and it didn't cause a big fire but I'm wondering if Home Depot will work with you on replacing it.  I'm not sure how long you've had the grill but it sounds like it was fairly new. Very scary experience I'm sure and thanks for warning others.
