"Click It, Or Ticket!" Columbia Gorge Seat Belt Enforcement Drive NOW!
We all know it's the law, but how many of us put on our seat belts every single time we get in a car? Here in Oregon it is even a primary offense, meaning a police officer can pull you over if he notices your seat belt not on (in some states, you can only be ticketed if pulled over for something else).
That's a $110 ticket in these parts, folks!
Of course, even more importantly, it's your life that's on the line every time you don't buckle up. Your chance of avoiding injury and even death during an accident, goes down drastically by just putting that seatbelt on.
Starting May 21st and running through June 3rd, Gorge Law Enforcement has joined together for their annual Seatbelt Enforcement Campaign. Officers are out in force specifically watching for violations and ticketing every single one they see. Child seat and booster seat use will also be focused on and drivers ticketed for violations.
So be sure to buckle up this week and always. Your life depends on it!
