Happy New Year to all!
One of the best places to ring in the New Year is New York's Times Square. And this year marked the 100th New Year's Eve ball drop in Times Square complete with a dazzling display of new environmentally-friendly lights.

Considered to be "the crossroads of the world' hundreds of thousands packed together like sardines watched while New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg released the ball a minute to midnight.
At the very stroke of midnight, fireworks lit up the sky and tons of confetti poured down over one million people, as the numerals 2008 lit up overhead.
The ball was made up of 672 crystal triangles and weighed almost 1,100 pounds, and was lit by 9,576 energy-efficient light emitting diodes. The ball was brighter and more brilliant than any ever before.

Wishing you all a magical, peaceful and prosperous 2008!
