The National Association of REALTORS President Moe Veissi came up with the idea of having a rally at the Capitol the week of the Mid-Year meetings in Washington, DC to show Congress and the American people that we are standing united in support of the opportunity for every person to buy and own and enjoy a house of their own.
The idea grew to a huge number of REALTORS heading to Washington DC for this event! The event was moved to the Washington Mounment for the rally on May 17th!
I arrived early that morning and you could sense the excitement in the air as bus after bus pulled up and unloaded the blue shirted REALTORS!
By mid-morning over 13,000 REALTORS® were standing united in their belief in the Dream of Home Ownership. It was a breathtaking sight I will never forget! The Rally to Protect the American Dream!
It was a monumental day for the REALTOR® Party. Every blue t-shirt in the crowd was committed to ensuring that Congress understand that "we are the architects of the American Dream" and that the dream of home ownership is only that - a dream - unless they work with us to preserve the dream through legislative action.
