NH Home Staging FAQ - What Is A Home Staging Consult?

home stager

With all the Home Staging shows on TV, sellers get confused, and somewhat misinformed.

What is Home Staging ?

Simply put... home staging is preparing a product for market.

There are many forms of Home Staging services offered, and not all home stagers offer the same thing.  However, most begin with a Home Staging Consult.

The goal is to highlight your home's best features and minimize any features that could be considered negative.

Home Staging consults usually begin with the exterior of the home, with suggestions for improving curb appeal.

A room-by-room tour of the interior follows and a personalized to-do list is created for the seller.

Furniture may be repositioned to show space and function. Accessories may be moved from one room to another.

Advice is given on paint color, window treatments and light fixtures.

The purpose of a home staging consult is to educate sellers and leave them with a detailed plan to improve the perceived value of their home.

Generally two hours is sufficient for this service. Larger homes or homes with more issues that need to be addressed will take longer.

Sellers can complete the suggested improvements and have the stager return for a final tweak or choose to have the stager do the work for them.

Another great FAQ Sharon. Our consults are so helpful. Even if a Seller is DIY  they can benefit from the consult.

Steve:  I am having a great weekend....well today anyways.  We took the Harley to Maine to a biker bar and had lobster for lunch then rode the coast home.  It was really nice.  Yesterday and tomorrow, however, are dedicated to moving "crap" from one house to another.  We close next week on our house, finally!

Kathy:  It's confusing to them.  I think for the most part they are too overwhelmed with the whole process....and they just don't know how much help we can provide.

Kathy:  I really appreciate your enthusiasm!  Thank you!

Maureen:  Thank you!  I'm really enjoying this FAQ series and all the posts that are being generated from it.

Janice:  Most of my clients do choose the diy route and I'm almost always very proud of them when I see the results.

Sharon, I like the proviso about the time involved. I've moved furniture and paintings around, gone through closets, garages and storgae rooms. Depending on the amount of stuff, 2 hours can go pretty quick!

Sharon, very good explanation! People think that Home Staging services are expensive and do not realize how affordable the consultation is.

Joanna:  Just trying to shine a little more light on the subject, LOL!

Sheila:  Simplicity is all I have time for these days and I believe that is the case for readers of blogs too, LOL!

Peg:  The two hours does go by quickly.  I could spend more than that organizing a pantry and enjoy every minute....if only someone would pay me to do it!

Anna:  I am finding more and more of my calls are coming from sellers who searched the internet....they are starting to figure it out.

There is no question that stagers have improved real estate marketing.  I was reluctant to accept it in about 2004, out here.  But I've fully embraced staging since then because it works on my listings.  Seller make thousands more than they pay when staging is done by professionals like you.  That's my first hand experience.
