Home Staging Vancouver – First Impressions Count!

Home Staging Vancouver – First Impressions Count!

When selling your Vancouver property, first impressions are everything.   When a potential Home Buyer enters your home, they want to be drawn in immediately, and coaxed to see more.  Like an hors d’oeuvres before the main course, the Home Buyer wants to their senses to be piqued and ready for what’s to come.

This particular Home Owner was very wise to call in our company to help get their property market ready for sale.  Before, the first thing that greeted you upon entering the foyer was a sofa that was gobbling up all the space.  It felt tight and uncomfortable.  With the dresser to the side, there was just too much furniture.

Another ‘no no’:  personal photos were displayed over the dresser, conveying instantly to Home Buyers that this space belongs to someone else.  It was almost like hanging a “Do Not Enter” sign.

No fear, Sally Stager is here!  Quick as a wink, we were able to transform this Entry into a more appealing space that would beckon Buyers in with style and aplomb.  As luck would have it, the guy repairing the front window while we were there, and who I happened to go to high school with (small world), agreed, after much begging and pleading on my part, to cart the sofa away J.

We relocated the dresser in the corner to the main wall, re-hung the artwork, and added a pretty vase full of flowers, strategically placed to help minimize the fact that there was an air vent right in the middle of the wall!

Charmed by the pretty Foyer, Buyers will now happily want to continue to see the rest of the house.

I hate the overcrowded foyers we normally see - great job in opening up the space and making it look so inviting!

Sally Stager ~ Between the dated plaid loveseat, the family photos, the shoes, and other paraphernalia -- that entry was like Grand Central Station!!  After your clever and adept staging, it now welcomes buyers in and shows off the architectural details in this space.  Great example of simple and effective staging!

Sally, beautiful transformation from "do not enter" to "welcome"! Even that dresser looks different ;-) I love how you camouflaged an air vent with the vase of flowers. It reminds me that I have been asked if there is any particular rule to set up accessories on the kitchen counter and I say, that I am not sure if there is a rule but I usually try to cover an electric outlet ;-)

Joanna - You really would need room to breathe, too - the house is on a cliff with 37 steps leading up to the front door - more on that to come!

Susan - It was feeling really claustrophopic when you first entered the home, so we were happy to open things up.  Love your new profile photo, by the way!

Maureen - As usual, you hit the nail on the head.  By opening up the space, the architectural details definitely shined through.

Anna - Well, this post was a long time coming... Ha ha - yes, 'Welcome' is what we were after!  I agree, I also strategically place Perrier bottles or other accessories in front of kitchen outlets.  They just seem so unattractive in the photos.

Sharon - I'll answer to Super Sally Stager!  I need to put a big SSS on my T-shirt from now on...  Thanks so much!

Sally Stager!! Do you have a cape and red boots? Cool! And very cool that you got rid of that huge sofa in the entry. Were they watching TV there or what?

Sharon - The entry really is crucial - if the Seller doesn't get that "first impression" space right, it's tough to get Buyers excited to see the rest of the house.

Shar - I do have a cape and red boots, but you can only see them if you have X-ray vision - sorry...  I guess they needed a soft, comfy couch to sit down and put their shoes on?...

Sally, who would have thought that a large tartan sofa blocking the entrance way would make a home less appealing to people coming through., doesn't everybody love an obstacle course?

Malcolm - Considering your Scottish heritage, I would have thought you'd have difficulty saying good bye to a tartan sofa.  So glad you agree that opening up the Foyer was a smart move!

Howdy from Houston!

Why that silver vase is almost big enough to be used in a Houston home (everything's bigger in Texas)!   But for it to be used in our area, it must, simply must, be dripping with feathers, blood red bird-of-paradise, and sticks........lots of sticks <EG>!

Another beautiful job from our trend-setting Canadian neighbor!

Howdy, Tom! - I think I know what you mean.  Kind of like big Texas hair, only a big Texas floral display.  Well, if anyone knows florals, it's you!  Why thank you, my trendy neighbour to the south!

Valerie - Thanks so much - it's always so nice to have your support.  Yes, the entry did have a teenage flop place look to it... but not anymore!!!

Pegster! - Hey, from one classy gal to another, thanks!  I know, that was so sweet of my friend to take pity on me and haul away the sofa.  Hope you're having fun back east.

Hi Sally!

Fabulous staging!  You gave this entryway just the right touch.  Love your saying: "Have no fear...  Sally stager is here!"  So cute...  I think that should be somewhere in your advertising!!!
