I actually get this question frequently. The phone rings, and it's "Beth, can you sell my home/help me find a home in Huntsville?" "Can you help me sell my house in Georgia?" "Can you help me sell my house in Florida?" "What is my home worth in California?" These questions come from good friends, family, former clients, and anyone else who has a relationship with me.
If you are asking this question, there is a better question to ask your real estate friends or your real estate professional. It is, "I want to buy/sell in XXXX. Can you recommend someone?"
As real estate agents, we know our local market best. That means that I am an expert on Tuscaloosa and West Alabama. I keep up with things in other cities and states that relate to my own personal interests- Atlanta, Tampa, and the Gulf Coast. However, that does not mean that I am the best person to sell your home or to help you buy. If you ask me any of the questions listed above, I consider it my job to refer you to another professional in your area who will treat you as well as I do. If I do not know someone, I will research them and interview them to do everything in my ability to make sure that their lprofessional evel of service is the same as my idea of professional level of service. That is a service that I provide to everyone, and almost every other agent that I know will do the same.
