Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Tiger Trout Alert!
Prior to catching this beauty at Panguitch Lake, I had only seen a Tiger Trout in photos which did this exceptional species no justice. The swirling gold and brown colors, unusual pattern design and rich sheen was a mystical sight as I reeled it in. Unbelievable! It measured 19 inches; just 3 inches shy of becoming a keeper and a fine meal!
I caught a healthy 5 pound Cut Throat Trout that measured 20 inches and set it quickly back into the lake to live another day along with 4 others. My husband was able to keep one he caught and we came home with 3 Rainbow Trout. We follow the guidelines set for by the Utah Fishing Proclamation that is sent out every year. It ensures the success of all species while promoting responsible fishing habits throughout the season.
Next weekend we will be travelling to Navajo Lake where we can keep 8 trout each due to a dike breach (as opposed to 4 under normal conditions). Looking forward to catching the BIG ONE!
It's just a matter of time!
