Most of us have succeeded at many things in our lifetime at some point or another. If you look at the timeline of life, these types of things happened along in our journey:
Born ... Learned to walk ... Learned to communicate with others ... Learned to read ... Did a cartwheel or some other type of physical skill like you threw a baseball ... Got a good grade in school ... Went on your first date ... Went to the prom ... Made the basketball team ... Won a ping pong tournament ... Graduated from high school ... Got accepted at MIT ... Full scholarship at Harvard ... Graduated with honors from college ... Got a great job ... Met the love of your life ... Got engaged ... Got married ... First child is born ... Your baby rolls over for the first time ... Got the promotion at work ... Had a great week at family camp ... Loved your Australia vacation ... Finished writing your new book ... Enjoyed and had great breakthroughs in the How To Have Your Best Year Ever event ... THE REST IS YET TO BE DETERMINED.
If you take the walk down memory lane, starting from the beginning and working your way up to the present, you will discover that you have accomplished a number of things regardless of the challenges you faced at the time. In short, YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL. However, many people NEVER give themselves credit for doing things well. Sadly, because they don't give themselves credit for being a winner, they approach life with hesitation, fear and uncertainty. And, that type of approach leads to poor or mediocre results at best.
Here's a success habit you may want to develop starting this week. In the evening, when you are planning the next day's activities you should WRITE DOWN your wins/successes for the day.
I know you are tired at the end of the day and you'll say, "I know what happened that day... so, this is not necessary." There can be hundreds of excuses. But, none of them out weigh the benefits of recording your wins.
Each night I write down my successes in four areas of my life: mental/spiritual, relationships, business prosperity, and health and recreation. The reasons for doing this are two-fold:
1. To "re-live" my successes in my mind so that I am training my mind to "re-live" the positive experiences of the day.
2. To see if I am maintaining some sense of balance in my life and then, I make adjustments to ensure that I am recording wins in all four areas of my life.
Taking time to write down your wins in life and reflecting on them give you your own reference points of being successful in the past. This helps you to improve and strengthen you self image and self esteem.
I write down this Success Log in my Journal. This becomes a tool to pick yourself up in case something unexpected happens to cause you a temporary setback in life or your business. You have to develop a way to keep going in spite of the curves that life throws at you. Each week take a moment to review your life and be proud of your accomplishments and successes. I guarantee that this will help you keep your attitude right because you are reinforcing the fact that you are a winner.

You should constantly look at what you are doing and what is working. Dedicating more time to the productive is easy if you know where to look.
