Get ready for 5 blocks of food and fun at the 14th Annual Taste of Charlotte June 8,9, and 1oth. Tryon St will be blocked between MLK Jr Blvd and 6th St and there will be food, live music, and kids activities. Admission is free and food and beverages must be purchased with special tokens. Tokens can be purchased at TasteofCharlotte.com or at the festival. Cost is $20 for 15 tokens. Most food items are 2-3 tokens while beer and wine are 4 tokens.

Taste of Charlotte is a yearly festival designed to showcase area restaurants. There will be more than 90 food samples available with most restaurants having 3 selections in their booth. I find it disappointing that a large number of restaurants participating are chain restaurants. But there are a number of foods I am looking forward to trying.

Among them are Cafe Siena’s Sea bass Cake with Chipotle Slaw and Moroccan Lamb Sliders, e2 Emeril’s Eatery’s Almond-Cheerwine Pudding, Sauceman’s Smoke Brisket Slider, and Mert’s Heart + Soul’s Soul Roll and Banana Pudding. Fort Mill’s Fishmarket Grill will have a booth serving Crab Cake Sliders, Shrimp + Grits, and Blackened Shrimp Tacos.

For a full list of restaurants participating and menu items visit TasteofCharlotte.com.

Friday and Saturday Festival hours are 11am-11pm. Sunday the festival runs from 11am-6pm.
