- Allegiant Airlines, which begins to serve Honolulu this summer, adds another city to its pending Hawaii route network - Monterey, California!

 AIRPLANE

It is so great to have the option of flying right from home.  While Monterey Peninsula Airport was once a busy terminal, over the years, the flights became less and less available, with prices being prohibitive for most.  The Monterey Peninsula Airport District has worked hard to make the airport alive and not only help residents travel, but help visitors arrive right in style at our back door.  I have talked to many colleagues and friends and we are very happy that we have the ability to fly to popular destinations right from home and not have to travel 2 hours to San Francisco or San Jose.  Monterey Regional Airport is easy to access, and is user friendly and will make travel very pleasant.  I welcome the thought of being able to fly home from a long trip and not have to have the additional travel time to get home.  Thank you to Tom Greer, General Manager of Monterey Regional Airport and your team for working hard to bring these services to The Monterey Peninsula

 hAWAII TO MONTEREY

One flight per week to Honolulu  will begin in November .  The flight will leave Monterey at 4:00 p.m. on Fridays, landing in Honolulu 5 hours later.  The return flight which takes 5 hours and 20 minutes, will also be on Fridays departing Honolulu at 5:15 p.m.

Introductory fares are below $200.00...and will be offered until June 5, 2012.  Allegiant has said that they will offer a very attractive price year round to Monterey Travelers.

Allegiant has been serving Monterey for several years and their Las Vegas flights are convenient and popular.

We once flew into Monterrey years ago. Beautiful place and area. Steinbeck described it just right.

In any event, when we went to fly out, the fog moved in over the water and our plane made three passes over the airport and could not land.

We were bussed to San Francisco where we missed our connection to Honolulu, but went the next morning.

Oh where did those days of wine and roses go?
