Sellers need to keep their emotions out!

At least that is what I hear a lot.

"Sellers must let go and get on with their lives."

That is very hard for some people to do.  My wife for one would not be able to separate her emotions from the sale.  But, is that really bad?

Is it really harmful?

If we think about what is a home...it is Love and all the emotions of raising a family or growing old with the one you love.

So, I ask...which is easier to sell?

A house? or a Home?

I will take a home for a listing any day!

For many, selling a home is leaving many memories behind.

Births, deaths, weddings you name it.

How many times have you looked a tree in the yard and thought about when you planted it and look at it now.

Bill...

It's hard for a home to NOT be full of personal memories. I remember all of my former homes with fondness.

Is that you back left?   I still drive my Mother to 3 of our former homes and we share in the memories of good times had.

It can be hard to later drive by a former home and see that the new owners have changed everything.  Even or plant removed that had held special significance for the seller... it can be difficult.  Somteimes we do have to let go and look ahead or we will be stuck longing for the past.

We call them home buyers rather than house buyers because they are seeking a home.  The emotional connection can override price concerns.

Have a great day and an outstanding weekend.

Bill, this is so true.  I think to many times agents and staers de-personalize a home so much they make it a house that feels sterile.

William,  Emotions or not, Sellers need to be realistic about their home value.  Being too attached can be harmful but it does not have to be if it is all managed well.  This is where an agent can really help a seller to get perspective.

I know that it is tough to sell a home, especially a short sale.  But, it is a product just like anything else, and one must keep the eyes on the prize.

I guess I look at it like this.  It is a home while your living there, and becomes a house when you are selling it.

My thought process to make sure we don't lose the appeal of a house being a home.  Some emotion is OK, but it does need to be kept in check.

Emotions are not all bad.  It is what buys homes many times
